Only four more exciting series and the EU LCS season 8 is already finished – let's cross the fingers for your favorite teams! After the semi-finals of the 2018 EU LCS Summer Split we may see the first representative of the European region at this year's League of Legends World Championship. The defending champion Fnatic is still very popular amongst fans and analysts – with Rekkles, Bwipo and sOAZ on the main roster the team even has some tactical opportunities in the course of a best-of-5 duel. G2 Esports dropped out of the playoff phase early after Perkz and his team-mates were clearly inferior to a strongly playing Misfits team. While marksman champions are on the rise again it is time for Hans sama to show his incredible mechanics and carry his team to victory against the fan favorites. The FC Schalke 04 managed to sneak a tight victory against Splyce but with Team Vitality already waiting for them on Summoner's Rift it will require another strong performance of midlaner Nukeduck to clinge their way into the finals of the 2018 Summer Split. The first semi-final of the EU LCS Summer Splits 2018 will start on August 31st at 18:00 CEST with the duel between Team Vitality and the FC Schalke 04, so don't miss one of the most important best-of-5 series of the entire League of Legends year.

Schedule and Results – 2018 LCS EU Summer Split Semifinals
With a clean 3-0 victory the Misfits unexpectedly swept the challengers of G2 Esports out of the Summoner's Rift and will now face Fnatic as a result in the semi-finals of the 2018 EU LCS Summer Split. Hans sama and his team-mates are considered the underdog in this duel but the team should not be underestimated after their strong performance in the quarter-finals. Team Vitality is also the favourite in the second match of the week – after all, they clearly beat the FC Schalke 04 in one of their tiebreaker games.

Semifinal #1: Vitality vs. FC Schalke 04
August 31th, 09:00 AM PDT / 12:00 PM EDT / 18:00 CET
Many memes about “the year of the duck” circulated on the internet during the course of the season but midlaner Nukeduck is actually to a large extent responsible for the success of the FC Schalke 04 team in the 2018 Summer Split. After a disappointing Spring season the FC Schalke 04 acquired the German veteran Maurice “Amazing” Stückenschneider from his analyst role directly into the jungle position of the team and thus strengthened both the tactical finesse and the decisiveness of their play on Summoner's Rift. Over the regular Summer Split the team stayed in the middle of the pack of the league until they equaled the strongest teams of the European LCS towards the end and fought for a direct ticket into the semi-finals in exciting tiebreaker matches against Team Vitality and G2 Esports. After a tight series against Splyce the players in the jerseys of FC Schalke 04 will now have to play Team Vitality for a spot in the grand finals of the playoffs. If you take a look at the direct duels in the 2018 Summer Split, Vitality leads with a score of two victories and one defeat. Jiizuke and his team-mates also won the tiebreaker game two weeks ago. The team of coach YamatoCannon also replaced Gilius on the jungle position with the experienced veteran Kikis and since then the challengers seem unstoppable. Kiki's jungle stats are excellent, he always seems to be in the right place at the right time and – in contrast to his aggressive predecessor – shines with well thought-out and brilliant moves during all stages of the game. Both teams feature a mix of experienced veterans and mechanically talented newcomers, the more creative team will take the victory and has a shot at the 2018 Summer Split title.
Prediction: With Kikis in the jungle Team Vitality is way stronger than before, Jiizuke has found his shape again and AD-Carry Attila has a much stronger effect on the reformed AD-Carrys. The FC Schalke 04 will have a hard time playing normal strategies against the inventiveness of their competitors, therefore I expect in the first semi-final of the EU LCS an exciting 3-1 victory for Team Vitality.
Semifinal #2: Fnatic vs. Misfits
September 1st, 08:00 AM PDT / 11:00 AM EDT / 17:00 CET
Just a few months ago the Misfits were the ultimate team of the European LCS and an indispensable part of the top of the ladder – the perfect first half of the 2018 Summer Split was born. Voices were already raised in the community and they compared the team's performances with the perfect season of the Fnatic roster of the 2015 Summer season but before any more hype could emerge the team's descent began with the loss against Fnatic in Week 5. The meta game changed, the opponents could catch up with the front-runners and the consequence was defeat after defeat. With two victories and seven defeats in the second half of the season the Misfits just manage to reach the playoff phase. Fnatic, on the other hand, climbed the table and towards the end of the season Caps and his team-mates clearly qualified as #1 seed of the European LCS for the playoffs. Everything looks like a clear march into the final for the Fnatic team – if it wasn't for the surprising quarter-final success of the Misfits against G2 Esports. The challengers – first and foremost AD carry Hans sama – dominated the former kings of the EU LCS and clearly swept them out of the Summoner's Rift with a 3-0 victory. Nevertheless, the current leaders of the LCS are more experienced and can fall back on a larger pool of strategies with any combination of Bwipo, sOAZ and Rekkles on the roster. In addition, the quarterfinal bye enabled them to study their opponents in detail for a week and thus gain an easy advantage. An exciting series awaits us, can the Misfits triumph again?
Prediction: A possible victory of the Misfits again leads over the botlane while Alphari on his toplane island has to cope alone against his direct competitors. Sencux won against Perkz in the quarterfinals but with Caps the perhaps best midlaner of the EU LCS is already waiting for him on Summoner's Rift. In addition, Broxah should at least be able to neutralize Maxlore's aggressive moves in the jungle. Overall I see some advantages for Rekkles and his team-mates and expect an exciting 3-1 victory for Fnatic.
